John Denholm

John is Chairman of J. & J. Denholm Limited and Denholm Energy Services. A Chartered Accountant, he joined J. & J. Denholm in 1981 and progressed from accountant for the ship management business to Group Finance Director, Chief Executive and ultimately Chairman. During his leadership, he transformed the Group by rebuilding its shipping operations and successfully diversified the business into Logistics, Seafoods, Industrial and Oilfield Services. In 2015, the Oilfield Services division was demerged to form Denholm Energy Services.
John is widely recognised across the global shipping industry and has held a number of prominent leadership roles including President of BIMCO, Prime Warden of the Worshipful Company of Shipwrights and President of the UK Chamber of Shipping. He currently serves as Chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping, is a Trustee of the Marine Society and Sea Cadets and sits on the boards of Hadley Shipping and Anglo Eastern Univan Group. In recognition of his services to shipping and charity, he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2022.
