Commodore Tim Green
Naval Regional Commander, Royal Navy
Commodore Tim Green took up the post of the Naval Regional Commander for London & Eastern England in April 2024. Prior to this he served as the Director of the Royal Navy’s Operational Advantage Centre; responsible for setting, maintaining, and developing warfighting standards and delivering operational advantage across the Royal Navy.
Educated at Beverley Longcroft School, East Yorkshire, and Teesside University (BA Hons in History and Politics), he joined the Royal Navy in 1993. As a junior officer he qualified as a Bridge Watchkeeping Officer, Submarine Advanced Warfare Officer, Principal Warfare Officer and has seen service on operations across the world in submarines, frigates, destroyers, an aircraft carrier and within the Battle Staff of the UK’s Carrier Strike Group.
He has been privileged to serve in 13 warships and submarines, including command of the mine countermeasures vessels HMS Blyth, HMS Walney and HMS Grimsby, and the frigate HMS Westminster.
Shore appointments have included: NATO (SHAPE) as DSACEUR’s lead for force generation across the ISAF and RESOLUTE SUPPORT missions in Afghanistan, Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff Ships in NCHQ and latterly Captain Carriers and Destroyers in the Surface Flotilla HQ.
He is a graduate of the United States Joint Advanced Warfighting School in Norfolk, Virginia (MSc in Joint Campaign Planning and Strategy), and Cranfield University’s Project Leadership Programme.
Tim lives in Hampshire with his wife and son.
